hee..i'm finally getting down to blog..
first of all..a very happy new year to everybody..
it's been quite a year for me..2004..lots of memorable things and interesting experiences..

there was my first job search..can't believe that was jus a year ago..seems pretty far back..haha..i wouldn't wanna do a job search anytime soon though..the endless waiting was really quite unbearable..considering i waited for a month before this certain inefficient job agency finally gave me a call..and more or less conned me into taking up the job at my beloved lounge..really a blessing in disguise..hee ;)
well, my first job at the airport..alot of my previous entries were made there during my midnight shifts..really miss that place and all my ex-colleagues..
truly a wonderful experience i won't forget...
first sem in nus bizad has passed..amazingly i'm still alive..haha..thinking back..can't imagine how i survived my crazily hectic schedule..guess this sem won't be any much better..i've learnt to cope..though not very well..heh..cap's pretty disappointing this sem..was kinda expecting to do better but..oh well..serve me right for not sticking to my 3-months mugging period huh..haa..
tried out quite a number of new stuff..bizcom, munchie monkey cafe, cluster leader, YEP, FOP...even though some weren't as fulfilling as i hoped or expected..they were all a learning and growing experience for me..especially YEP..if i can only choose to retain one of these experiences out of the whole lot..that's the one i'll definitely keep.......

haha..one of my YEP team mates did a recap of our 18 days in Hoa Sua School in our yahoo group email..i was thinking of doing that here too..but think that's too much details for me to handle..still trying to close my accounts..kinda wanna enjoy wat's left of my holiday so i've been putting that off a little..haha..here's an overview of my feelings and thoughts for those 18 days:

as i told my team during our pre-yep facilitation..i was kinda hesitant about the whole trip cos i din really have any close frens along with me and was afraid that i might not be able to fit in. think everyone had that sort of fear but probably just of different scale. one thing i noticed after i came back was that..as i grew more familiar with the individual members during the trip..i also became less independent cos of the cliques that were unconsciously formed. i had my group of "姐妹" with me..haha..actually it was more like..a "jiejie"(huimin) and a sister-turned-chipmunk (joy)..of cos..not forgetting "papa" (binghui) and "mama" (jianhao). hee..really had alot of fun with these pple..brought me so much laughter during the trip. sometimes..we din even know what we were laughing about ;) but i really was more independent before the trip. i'd jus go for outings and all without caring who else was going. but now, i find myself thinking that i'll be more comfortable and will prob have more fun if my clique's around. interesting how things evolve..comfort zones and all......

the nightly facilitations were draggy and boring at times..cos most of the time we simply wanted to get it over with and go bathe or go to bed. but i guess it really did help the team to bond and to know each other better. haha..maybe that was when we discovered every single guy on our team are SNAGs!! they'll suddenly come up with some super touching or emo comments..pretty sweet ;) on the more serious side..i think being singaporeans, we really do take things for granted. at least that much i can say for myself. basic things like food, water (for consumption and for daily use), accomodation..i never thought much about those back here. but when we were there, though food was good, it was more or less rationed cos the school had limited resources and alot of mouths to feed! haha..rice seemed to be in abundance though... yup..and as for water..first time i experienced water shortage. like, wake up in the morning and find that there's no water for us to wash up. guess we are really quite privileged. as for the kids at the school..they are indeed very lucky to get a new lease on life...

sighie. 18 days of communal living was really something. never thought i could be around pple for such a long period of time cos i always felt that i'm someone who needs to have some personal time and space. but somehow, it was really very enjoyable. waking up together with the drum beats in the background..waiting for huimin to wake up at 6+..then for zhenlin..then me and joy will slowly crawl out of bed..followed by peishan and amy..then we'll all crawl back in when we realise there's no water..hahaha ;) breakfast together..maggi mee/dong fen every single morning..really satisfying to have something hot to eat when you wake up to a chilly morning. and then everyone starts popping in vitamin c pills..and mervyn will be desperately trying to chew his down cos he couldn't swallow..hee. as the days went by..we received more and more smiles and greetings from the vietnamese and their once strange faces grew more and more familiar. it's very heartwarming to see them smile at you..especially the sincere ones ^_____^ bath time = gossip time. haha..huimin and joyjoy, our 2 social workers-to-be, will be trying their tricks on us..see who's lying and all. we had so much fun in tina's room..i mean..when do you have to wait 2 hrs just for your turn to have a 10min long bath? and of course..all our other meal times together and watsoever..sighie. really miss everyone. it's like having a long-term chalet. guess YEP isn't supposed to be liddat..but it did seem to be so..haha.

we did have our bad times as well..halong bay was quite an experience..but i guess everybody learned from it and grew to appreciate one another more..could really see the whole team pull together and stuck by one another. and i was really quite impressed by boss..the way he handled that incident and all..heh..think it wasn't what most of us expected. despite that incident..halong bay was very memorable in the sense that i got to know Loan..a very pretty, korean-looking, hearing-impaired girl. haha..she's like..the most gentle being i've ever met. although we couldn't commuicate well..i still enjoyed her company :) the boat ride was fun too. i love the sun and the sea..and the company was great too........

one of my greatest regret is actually being the treasurer. somehow, keeping the accounts took up more time than i expected and i wasn't able to interact or participate as much as i would have liked to. but no matter what, i made the best out of the whole trip, i made a lot of good frens and alot of good memories..guess i can go on and on about this trip..but i better end now. hope the team will stay together for a long time!!!
