oh yay..finally found some free time to blog! wanted to do so a few times last mth but had so many project and assignment deadlines to meet..*bleagh* yupyup..managed to get a slight breather tonight..went over to deb's room to watch Singapore Idol and the 9pm swimming show that some of my frens are so hyped up about..haha..it's not bad but i prob won't have time to watch it again..need more sleep ;P
jus to update on some stuff that got backlogged...
FOP elections were held last month and there was this thing about the Bizad spirit that was brought up..basically wat is the Bizad spirit? hmm..i dun think it's all that difficult a question actually..for me..when i enter into a new environment, i will kinda start looking for the kind of
归属感..in other words..the sense of belonging. isn't it kinda sad that if you have to go to school everyday, after 2, 3 or even 4 years in school, you never felt you belonged or you never felt proud of the school? i dunno..to me..that seems like a damn sad thing......
somehow, my days in rgssb were so rich with spirit that it makes me wanna recreate that kinda spirit in whatever small way that i can when i go somewhere new..
days when we had so much fun interacting with and learning from our seniors..when we would do the stupidest things and then look back and laugh at ourselves..when we pulled together in the hardest of hardest times and made it smiling through our tears..when we went back time and again even after we've graduated, hoping to see our juniors experince the same joy we went through..it's when we can stand up proud and tall and shout out to the world that we are rgssband girls....
even out of band, being a rafflesian is really something as well. it's nothing to do with being arrogant like many would think. the thing that bonds us..guess it's jus in the culture..haha. i remembered mandy mentioning about rj before and so i went to dig through her blog and finally managed to come up with this: " "why not? no harm trying!" attitude". she was describing the way the students are more ambitious and all. we really do seem to have a do-or-die attitude and the thing is that..with everyone excelling in what they try, we die die also must do our best not to die..hahaha ;) yah well..i must admit that i find it hard to quantify the rafflesian spirit here..i used to think that all the talk about spirit were crap..but that didn't help me explain how i felt during events like national track and field..when you can actually taste the joy of the runner who crossed the finishing line first. the most amusing point of time was during vj orientation..when i realised that everytime i cheered, i was thinking of "R-A-F-F-L-E-S" and simply couldn't get the word "victoria" out of my mouth..haha. it really took me by surprise and came as a reality check. think june joo even came to the conclusion that i'm a weirdo :P but seriously..i realised where i belong then.....
haha..all these talk made me sound like some patriotic nut. no lah..i'm really not the siao-on about school spirit and that sorta stuff. guess it's because i miss the good old days so much.. of course i know it's definitely not possible..but i'm jus trying to create a comfort zone for myself..haha..as for spirit..i don't show it..but that doesn't mean i don't feel it.. ^__________^
